ICOs are going Mainstream
There’s a lot in store for ICOs in 2018. It won’t be limited to silicon valley hotshots and startups.
Recently, there was a major US Senate hearing on cryptocurrencies. Senator Giancarlo recounted how his young nieces were curious in investing through ICOs. They did not care much for the traditional investment vehicles such as gold, bonds and stocks but were more involved in investing in ICOs.
The senate hearing seemed to affirm and echo this sentiment. ICO’s could become a modern day equivalent to holding a stock. It will be regulated and those that fall foul of the law will be punished.
For example Telegram has decided to raise money by going down the ICO route in order to raise 1.2 billion dollars for its new blockchain project called Telegram Open Network.
Furthermore, it’s going to be an entirely new blockchain network that will utilize the 180 million Telegram users to power its currency called ‘gram’ towards mainstream adoption.
ICOs can be the new alternative to VCs
It’s already proving to be a great instrument to raise funding. There are some striking benefits to ICOs such as 1) they are more liquid in comparison to traditional VCs who could lock you down for 5-7 years. 2) The offer more flexibility. 3) They grant access to a much larger and more diverse investor base.
Thus, 2018 is shaping up to be a year the financial revolution continues and not stutter.
